A social program called “Seasons Chess” will start in Lviv next December. It aims at popularizing the royal game and creating the image of Ukraine as an organizer of great chess events – such as the Women’s World Chess Championship match.
The head of the organizational management preparing for the Women’s World Chess Championship match in Lviv, Nataliya Oboznenko has made some statements to the correspondent of vgolos.com.ua. She said the social program “Seasons Chess” will start in December, highlighting the Ukraine Chess Championship (Men’s and Women’s Finals). Then, during Xmas holidays, will be staged a Chess Christmas Ball, with the participation of current Women’s World Champion Maria Muzychuk, her sister Anna and other famous players. Subsequently, in concomitance with the Chinese New Year, falling on February 8, 2016, the Chinese media will be also involved. According to the organizers, it’s wise to introduce Chinese journalists into the town and its history. The social program also includes a budget for publishing children’s books and organizing open chess tournaments among Information Technology (IT) companies. “We’ve set out a respectful and responsible goal – to make our community acquainted with chess culture and prepare it to the next year’s great event – the Women’s World Chess Championship match. So, thanks to our social program, within March, all Ukrainian society will hopefully be aware of the event and ready to provide support to our Women’s Champion”, Nataliya Oboznenko said. She added that the administration of President plans to declare 2016 the Year of Chess in Ukraine. |
