According to
Chess-News.ru, the responsibility for the suspension of the services for the Ukrainian Chess Federation is mostly of Lviv’s Mayor Andriy Ivanovych Sadovyi.
The debt amounts to €60,000 €uros, and concerns exclusively about Mariya Olehivna Muzychuk’s prizemoney. FIDE has instead received the rest of the sum, including 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán)’s prizemoney. As for the missing money, according to previous agreements (it is unknown whether verbal or written), Lviv’s Mayor had committed himself to repay Muzychuk’s prizemoney with a real estate in town (which it had already been promised her after she won the Women’s World Chess Championship in Russia). On his part, Sadovyi lamented the lack of collaboration he received from the President of Ukrainian Chess Federation Viktor Vladimirovich Kapustin. Whetever it is, Lviv’s Mayor is now tightly marked by Muzychuk’s parents, so it’s likely that pretty soon she’ll have her new house built. In the meanwhile, both Mariya Olehivna and her sister Anna Olehivna are about to take part in the third stage of Women’s Grand Prix in Batumi, Georgia. |
