The 16th century epic, 牡丹亭 (The Peony Pavilion), is one of the most enduring love stories in Chinese literature. Originally performed as a 崑曲 (Kūnqǔ) Opera in a 20-hour cycle, director 李六乙 Lǐ Liùyǐ) and choreographer 費波 (Fèi Bō) have redrawn it into a sublimely enchanting two-act fusion ballet that combines Western classical ballet with conventional Far East influences.
