A tall “wish” Christmas tree stands up in the middle of the Florence Santa Maria Novella Railway Station. The lower half of the tree is covered with handwritten letters to Santa Claus from anyone passing by. Today was the last day to ask Santa for a wish. Most are requests for immaterial things — written in a wide variety of languages all over the world — such as feeling, love, happiness, and dreams. To each his own. But a wish for everyone to be happy.
