That’s Hard, That’s Easy

In her first days as Women’s World Chess Champion, 谭中怡 (Tán Zhōngyí) will undoubtedly have to repeat the same things several times, so that everyone – even who didn’t know her – may read her story like an open book. Curiously enough, her first significant interview (immediately after won the crown) was given to a special guest reporter, China’s second Women’s World Chess Champion 诸宸 (Zhū Chén), who recorded it on her I-phone and then posted it on WeChat. Among other things, 谭中怡 (Tán Zhōngyí) said: “Today I was actually quite well prepared, but the fact that my victory took only two games left me a bit surprised. The winning seemed to come a little too easy, because Muzychuk’s path had been much smoother and easier than mine, without never having to play a single tie-break. Since I have had to pass through two Armageddons, I succeeded in keeping my mind relatively open, and eventually I didn’t feel any pressure – that was not evidently my opponent’s case”.
