Big Bang

That’s all, girls. This is the end.

16th World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (pictured above in his prime) confirmed today that he will be participating in the 7th Chess World Cup to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia from 1 to 25 September 2017. Held every two years, the Chess World Cup is a seven-round 128-player knockout tournament, consisting of classical chess and rapid & blitz playoffs. The top two finishers will qualify for the Candidates Tournament, which will determine the challenger for the World Chess Championship match. Since Magnus is the clear favourite to win the Chess World Cup as well as the Candidates Tournament, he probably will have to worry only about his self in the World Chess Championship match. I would not exclude, however, the possibility that his passionate advertising campaign in announcing his “Big Bang” may not comply with the prudential caution to avoid hurting the sensibility of one or more of the others participants.
