President of the Russian Chess Federation (RCF), Andrey Vasilievich Filatov, announced of being ready to directly compete with FIDE President Kirsan Nikolayevich Ilyumzhinov for the RCF Presidency. Previously, Ilyumzhinov, who is the President of FIDE since 1995, said that he could even run for the Russian Chess Federation Presidency.

I’m always ready to compete. Today I officially announced that I have been nominated for President of the Russian Chess Federation, and I am very grateful to those grandmasters who supported me.
