Australian Grandmaster Ian Rogers tweeted yesterday his account of the press conference given by 谭中怡 (Tán Zhōngyí) and 居文君 (Jū Wénjūn) after the conclusion of the second game of the “中国移动” (“China Mobile”) Women’s World Chess Championship match underway in 上海 (Shànghǎi), China. “Weird press conference after 居文君 (Jū Wénjūn)’s win over 谭中怡 (Tán Zhōngyí) in the second game of the Women’s World Chess Championship in 上海 (Shànghǎi). 居 (Jū) looked seriously depressed at having beaten her friend, while 谭 (Tán) was able to smile and even laugh. Game 3 on May 6, 居 (Jū) leading 1½ – ½”, Rogers wrote. Another curiosity concerning the second game lays in its theoretical background, and I’m quite sure that after 1. c4 e5 2. Nc3 Bb4 3. d3 Bxc3+ 4. bxc3 d6 5. g3, Rogers himself must have felt what he was experiencing as a wonderful truth. Photos: photo.sina.com.cn.
