On August 28, 2018 Saint Louis University (SLU) announced that Saint Louis philanthropists Dr. Jeanne and Rex Sinquefield (pictured above) — the latter being also the only sponsor and organiser of the Sinquefield Cup — donated $50 million — the largest gift in the institution’s 200-year history – to the University to accelerate its rise as a world-class research university.
