According to Chinese tabloid newspaper Global Times, 郑文杰 (Simon Cheng), a staffer at the British Consulate-General in 香港 (Hong Kong), has been arrested in the border city of 深圳 (Shēnzhèn), China and punished with 15 days of administrative detention for “solicitation of prostitution”, a kind of accusation regularly used by Chinese authorities to discredit the reputation of government critics. 郑文杰 (Simon Cheng) could have reasonably objected that it was almost impossible for an inexperienced foreigner to distinguish between an official’s wife and an everybody’s woman, but a gentleman wouldn’t ever contradict a lady, not even if she is a prostitute.
