On Friday, September 6, 2019 four-time Women’s World Chess Champion and Rhodes Scholar 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) gracefully brought her transcendent aura into the 深圳 (Shēnzhèn) Foreign Languages School International Department in 深圳 (Shēnzhèn), China to give a lecture — in pure English words — to about 400 people between teachers and students on the theme of “pursuing a dream and never giving up”. In her speech, jumping from chess to academic studies, she emphasized the importance of virtues and aptitudes such as perseverance, study of classics and independence of thought, but without never forget that no one — no teacher, and no school program — can tell you what you really want in your heart, and that the only voice which will guide you from the darkness to the light, in the end, will be your own.
