The FIDE Candidates Countries Youth Online Chess Tournament, which was held online via the chess.com web site on April 18 and 19, ended with FIDE and China sharing first place — FIDE being declared winner on tie-breaking points. Then there followed, in order of ranking, Russia, United States, France, and Netherlands. Four-time Women’s World Chess Champion and Rhodes Scholar 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) and Chinese-Dutch Grandmaster 彭肇勤 (Péng Zhàoqín), who anchored the live broadcast on CCTV-5 on both days, once again captured large audiences by virtue of their charm and competence.
