It’s not the same old story of Adam and Eve and the forbidden apple. It’s simply a matter of a woman (Judit Polgár) and a man (Vladimir Borisovich Kramnik) who will captain two teams of young chess talents in the newly launched Julius Bär Challengers Chess Tour — the dernier cri of Play Magnus Group — which, from April to September, will feature four Challenges and one Final for a total of five online tournaments. At stake is a $100,000 prize pot, plus “wild cards” and “special cards” to enjoy all the benefits and privileges which are usually reserved for professionals. Each team features world-renowned coaches — namely, Polgár will rely upon the good offices of 居文君 (Jū Wénjūn), Surya Shekhar Ganguly and Arthur Mikhailovich Kogan, while Kramnik will be assisted by 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán), Boris Abramovich Gelfand and Anna Olehivna Muzychuk.
