Tom Daley, 27, fresh from winning his first-ever Olympic gold in the men’s synchronised 10-meter platform on July 26, revealed on his Instagram account (@madewithlovebytomdaley) that overnight in Tokyo he had knitted a pouch for his gold medal to “prevent it getting scratched”. Tom said he took up knitting and crochet last March to get himself through the COVID-19 lockdown “and have been obsessed ever since”. Last September, on the eve of UK’s second lockdown, he started his “knitting & crochet” Instagram account so as to share his creations with his fans.
