According to a report of the Associated Press (The New York Times, February 21, 1977, p. 12), Regina Wender Fischer (lying right), mother of 11th World Chess Champion Bobby Fischer, was arrested at London on Sunday evening, February 20, 1977 “when she refused to leave a camp bed on which she had maintained a protest vigil outside the British Home Office against the pending deportation of two Americans. The 63‐year‐old Mrs. Fischer had been on a hunger strike outside the Government building since Friday in behalf of Philip Agee and Mark Hosenball, American writers who face deportation on charges of unauthorized receipt of secret information”.
