Thus Europe learned through a Home Office document leaked to The Guardian – apparently not signed off by any ministers – about the United Kingdom’s post-Brexit immigration policy. Theresa and her Tories are planning to cut the numbers of low-skilled migrants from Europe as well as to end free movement of labour and introduce any kind of restrictions to deter all but highly-skilled European workers. They did not yet think to build a wall at the border, but for entering their country of tomorrow all European citizens would be required to show a passport.
It is a poor document, and grievously trivial. It won’t work. |
