A Malian migrant and an activist for the rights of farm workers, Sacko Soumali, 29, was shot dead, and two other Malians were injured on June 2 in San Calogero, province of Vibo Valentia, Calabria, Italy. All three were in Italy with a regular residence permit. Union representatives have called for a day’s strike on the Gioia Tauro plain on Tuesday.
