It is disheartening to note the intellectual acrobatics of the community of collectors of semicolons who guiltily neglect Fischer’s chess testament or paternalistically dismiss Fischerandom chess as the delirium of a mad genius. The vestals of orthodoxy stoically obliterate truculent outbursts and anti-Semitic invectives, as evidence of a premature brain death, and in the meantime they try to fit the myth to the size of their overnight suitcase of openings. And, in fact, they remember all semicolons of the 60 Memorable Games as they stubbornly forget the apocryphal gospel under the carpet. |
