The Five-Minute Tale

The 5th Altibox Norway Chess started today in Stavanger, Norway with a Blitz tournament aimed to determine the pairings for tomorrow’s official “grand beginning”. Guess who won today? Of course, Magnus Carlsen, world’s number one as well as the reigning World Chess Champion. This year’s format, indeed, doesn’t leave room for surprise and novelty. It’s a super élite tournament in which participate only and exclusively the world Top Ten with no wild card for any “Children of a Lesser God”. The organisers have thought about any details: there is TV, Anglo-Saxon commentators, and the contracted broadcast of chess24.com.
There are all the ingredients for the auto-celebration of the Magnificent Ten, and we hope for them it will be a success, of course.
