The Story of A Seagull and The Cat Who Taught Her To Fly

Chilean author and poet Luis Sepúlveda, who suffered imprisonment and torture for political reasons under Pinochet’s dictatorship in the 1970s, has died on Thursday at the Central University Hospital of Asturias in Oviedo, Spain from COVID-19. Sepúlveda’s works, which range from novels, poetry, screenplays, to children’s stories, have been translated in some 50 countries. He conquered the literary scene in 1989 with his first novel, “Un viejo que leía novelas de amor” (“The Old Man Who Read Love Stories”). Photo: Saeed Khan/AFP /Getty Images.
