Three-time Russian Women’s Chess Champion and Vice Women’s World Chess Champion in 2020 Aleksandra Yuryevna Goryachkina appeared at a round-table press conference attended by the best of Yamal sports youth stars on June 2, 2022 in Salekhard, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Russia. Each of them shared their own success stories with the public to move further and grow in life. When it was up to her, Goryachkina put it rather simply: “Just make progress. It is like any workday. Just be better than yesterday”. She then expressed regret at being banned by FIDE from participating in the forthcoming 44th Chess Olympiad owing to retaliatory measures against her country, but at least, she said, “I’m delighted that age is no hindrance to chess: you can play it until your love for it lasts”.
