12th World Chess Champion Anatoly Yevgenyevich Karpov was hospitalised on Saturday in the Neurocritical Care Unit of the Sklifosovsky Research Institute in downtown Moscow, Russia, where he is said to be in serious condition. According to indiscretions, Karpov suffered traumatic head injury and he is in observation in an induced coma. His daughter, Sophia Anatolyevna Karpova, herself a journalist, declared that her father suffered an injury in a domestic fall, thus disproving rumours that he had been assaulted.
