Satisfaction Guaranteed

In a phone interview with TASS correspondents today, President of Chess Federation of Russia, Andrey Vasilievich Filatov, said that the Federation is to offer 10-year contracts to hold on to top young Grandmasters who might otherwise be lured by the irresistible smell of Western money and switch to other countries. “The Chess Federation of Russia began working in this direction already this year. We sign a 10-year contract with the most promising players. For its part, the Federation helps attract and retain coaches and sponsors”, Filatov said. “We do everything so that gifted Russian players can realise their maximum potential. If a player decides to change country, he will have to return all costs investors incurred for his development and growth. In summer, we signed the first such contract with Andrey Evgenyevich Esipenko”.
