Speaking with the TASS correspondents, four-time Women’s World Chess Champion 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) argued that the transition of Chess Federation of Russia to the Asian Chess Federation will much enhance the competitivity of the Asian chess offer. “We are purely concerned with the sporting aspect here, not the political one, and from this point of view, I am very happy to participate in more challenging competitions. With [the Chess Federation of Russia] to join Asia, the level of tournaments will certainly increase”, 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) said. “But overall, over the past five to ten years, the level of Asian countries has grown. India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and others — their level is growing rapidly. So, I think this is all good for chess, and I am sure that there will be even more strong chess countries”.
