“I’ve lived and worked in 深圳 (Shēnzhèn) for many years”, 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) said in the aftermath of her triumph at the 15th National Games of People’s Republic of China. “So I could not hope for a happier ending than achieving such a victory on behalf of 广东 (Guǎngdōng)”. She also praised the emergence and growth of a new generation: “This time there was no age limitation and many young women took part in the Finals. I’m profoundly pleased to see the new generation being up to such a challenge”, she said. “They all showed their passion and potential for chess, as proof of the soundness of their study”.
