The “Soldino”, a best-selling sweet snack in the 1980s, is back. The Mulino Bianco relaunched it in a special limited and customisable edition. The “Soldino” is a pastry glazed with chocolate and a small chocolate coin — literally, soldino — on the top. Photos: Barilla Group. |

Breakfast at Tiffany’s
As first reported by La Nazione on June 4, 2021, “Il Mulino Bianco” goes to auction. The ancient Chiusdino mill nearby the Abbey of San Galgano, in the province of Siena, which gained worldwide fame due to a series of commercials by the homonymous brand filmed there, appeared for the first time in 1989 in the advertisement for the biscuits of Barilla created by Armando Testa with the direction of Giuseppe Tornatore and the music of Ennio Morricone. The property, which houses an agritourism, will be sold on judicial sale on October 1. Photo: Barilla Historical Archive/Barilla G. e R. Fratelli S.p.A./Barilla Foundation. |
