On Saturday evening, a few hours after winning the 9th International Festival in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, American Grandmaster Timur Gareev, 27, was assaulted and beaten up by a gang of unknown men at a central street in the district of the city’s nightlife. Despite his bruised face, he would have been discharged from the hospital within a few hours. The facts of the assault being investigated, but everything appears to have happened for petty reasons.
