Yesterday, late in the evening the FIDE World Cup Appeal Committee – attended by Jorge Vega Fernández (chairman), Zurab Azmaiparashvili (member), and Hesham Elgendy (member) – rejected Ian Aleksandrovich Nepomniachtchi’s appeal. The result of the Armegaddon game (and thus of the match) is not cancelled, and Nakamura was given only a warning as he castled with both hands. The Committee also decided to return back the appeal fees ($500) to Nepomniachtchi and to assure him that in such cases he has to stop the clock at once and inform the chief arbiter to apply the article 4 before he himself touches one of his own pieces.
