Women’s World Chess Champion Mariya Muzychuk from Ukraine finished second in the first stage of Women’s Grand Prix, which ended on Thursday in Monte Carlo, Principality of Monaco. The tournament was won by the highest rated woman in the world 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) from China, who in the spring of next year will play the match for the Women’s World Chess Championship in Ukraine. Final ranking: 1. 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) 9/11; 2. Mariya Muzychuk 7; 3. Humpy Koneru 7; 4. Pia Cramling 6; 5. Natalia Andreevna Pogonina 6; 6. Antoaneta Stefanova 5½; 7. Alexandra Konstantinovna Kosteniuk 5½; 8. Nana Dzagnidze 5; 9. Almira Skripchenko 4½; 10. Natalia Oleksandrivna Zhukova 4½; 11. Anna Muzychuk 4½; 12. Sara Sadat Khadem-al-sharie 1½.
