FIDE President Kirsan Nikolayevich Ilyumzhinov proposes Armenia and Azerbaijan to play an online chess match under the auspices of World Chess Federation, with the aim of contributing to the spread of a culture of pacification through chess. On occasion of his recent visit to Yerevan, Ilyumzhinov directly submitted his proposal to Armenia President Serzh Azati Sargsyan, who – according to FIDE President – would have welcomed it with open arms. “On May 24 I will be in Azerbaijan and I’ll advance the same proposal there”, Ilyumzhinov told Sputnik Armenia.
