Wesley So (pictured, left) very deservedly won the 61th U.S. Chess Championship after beating Alexander Vasilyevich Onischuk (pictured, right) 1½–½ in the rapid tie-break. We should also say that he managed to stretch his unbeaten streak to 69, and — far more importantly — congratulate him both on his chess skills, and for his ethics and his moral sense, no matter who wins or who loses.
