The irresistible Short has long tormented his opponent with his jumping Knights, but it’s all but sure that his lasting initiative could have produced a win without White’s next half-helpmate: 43. Kd1??

43. ... Bxd4!! 0 : 1. It doesn’t happen very often to see a mate with two Knights (44. exd4 Nc3 mate), and on the other hand, such an ending a Pawn down would have been a too easy if prosaic walk for Short, so Huzman chivalrously gives up his seat.
