Cultural Dilemmas

On the day before the first leg of the Champions Chess Tour 2020–21 (Skilling Open) begins, The Guardian hosts an in-depth interview with 16th World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen on the gender gap in chess:
Carlsen humbly admits that “Chess societies have not been very kind to women and girls over the years. Certainly there needs to be a bit of a change in culture”. Of course many questions followed. It seems only one question wasn’t asked — so just don’t ask why no woman was invited to play in the invitational Skilling Open.
