There are now only five days left to the beginning of the inaugural Tech Mahindra Global Chess League (GCL), a futuristic, mixed-gender format which (at least in the intention of its deus ex machina, Indian billionaire Anand Mahindra) promises to open new horizons and set new technological standards. Half a dozen World Champions, young prodigies and other chess-star pros will represent six different franchise teams that will compete in a double round-robin at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from June 21 to July 2.
