Four-time Women’s World Chess Champion and Peking University’s Professor 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) was the guest of honour at the inaugural “Great Wall Friendship” Sino-Russian International Youth Chess Festival, held at 北京 (Běijīng) from October 29 to November 4, 2025, featuring the participation of 65 contestants from across all China as well as a delegation of 23 teenager students from Vladivostok, Russia. One of them, namely Andrey Tikhonovetskiy, 14, even succeeded in the most difficult task of persuading 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) to make “peace” (that is, to concede a draw) in the 10-board simultaneous exhibition she gave on October 31 for the sake of her young challengers.
