Something from Nothing

The 13rd Festa dello Sport at Parco del Neto in Calenzano is finally ended, and I counted many rabbits, ducks, and human families eager to share the summer sun. Of course, while promoting Fischerandom chess, I inevitably tried to convince any young girls that it is best for them to not waste time on boring pastimes such as chess, but rather joyfully join the Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna”’s carpet-dance. I don’t despair of the younger generation!

As usual the event is organised by the Comune di Calenzano with the patronage of the Città Metropolitana di Firenze and CONI Comitato Regionale Toscana. The entrance is free.

The World Around Us

It was the last day of presence of Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna” at the Festa dello Sport – just because the feast ended today. We greeted so our Chino-Filipino friend Jonny (above pictured), who showed himself to be a remarkably gifted and untiring player. What’s his secret? He studied a lot of games by Wesley So! We strongly reccomend him to play and we hope to met him again in future at the Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna”.

Constitutional Convention

The Associazione Culturale’s “Il Delta della Luna”’s educational chess stage at the Festa dello Sport ended today with great success of participation and public. Weekly classes of classical and Fischerandom chess will be held at the Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna” from the first Saturday of October until the last Saturday of May. But the feast continues for two days yet, even if unofficially, with Jonny from Philippines (above pictured as Black) and Luca from Italy (White) concluding their friendly youth match. At the moment, Jonny is leading by a point. So pray do not bother them while they do their thinking.

Our distinguished young friends managed to carve out a quiet spot where to stay and where to play their international match in the limelight of the Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna”’s second day of participation in the Festa dello Sport at the Giardini del Campo di Marte in Florence, Italy. After four games, the score was perfectly even, with two wins each.

Games Without Borders

A grateful thank to my Philippino friends who very kindly helped me carry on the first day of the Festa dello Sport at the Giardini del Campo di Marte in Florence, Italy, despite the absence (but only for today) of my beloved Alessandra. We should have stopped at 19,00, but we got a little later, speaking about Ruy López and Wesley So. The Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna”’s weather bureau foresees that tomorrow it will rain, but we’re gonna fight heroically and stoically anyway.

Well, don’t think I forgot chess! In last two days I’ve been seriously committed to organizing the Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna”’s participation in tomorrow’s Festa dello Sport at the Giardini del Campo di Marte in Florence, Italy. I just kept the backstage secret, just to avoid the unpleasant attentions of the so-called “education manager” of a not too renowned chess establishment operating near here. Pictured above are two old (but young) Philippino friends – who ardently root for their countryboy Wesley So – playing with a girl who I tried to persuade to quit chess for involving instead in study of dance. Alas, yet in vain.
