On Thursday, December 12, 2019 General Secretary of the 中国国际象棋协会 (Chinese Chess Association), Mrs. 田红卫 (Tián Hóngwèi), and Deputy Director of the 山东 (Shāndōng) Chess and Card Sports Management Centre, Mr. 王卫 (Wáng Wèi), made “their” first move out of four-time Women’s World Chess Champion 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán)’s and Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Vasilyevich Fedoseev’s minds (without guessing it), in fact opening the “一带一路” (“One Belt One Road”) 6th China–Russia Junior Match of Friendship “国奥棋院杯” (“Guó Ào Qíyuàn Cup”) in 济南 (Jǐnán), 山东省 (Shāndōng province), China. Another thing, Edna; do not worry about that silly “zero tolerance” rule, because, as the saying goes, a queen is never late — everyone else is simply early

Excuse me. I’ll be back in a minute
Red noses have appeared on Banksy’s homeless reindeer mural in Birmingham, England. The elusive artist unveiled the artwork dubbed God Bless Birmingham in a video showing a man settling down to sleep on a bench, which appears to be pulled by two reindeer.

Yes, Edna, it means that you will have to keep teaching all your mortal life and, if you are a believer, also all your immortal life

Thank you for the improvisation and for the lesson, Edna, but I think they’ll still need about one trillion lessons of one hour each before being able to take their eyes off you

Of course, Edna, you perfectly know when to move from first to fifth positions and plié to grand jeté

Contemporary Choreography
Today, at Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna”, the Saturday chess960 rendez-vous was made more than usually interesting by a visit from two dancers, Caterina and Claudia, who seized the dance room to do their ballet rehearsals. Unsurprisingly, there was no conflict between sneakers and pointe shoes, and in the end Caterina and Claudia sat next to Giuditta — so far the only female chess star of the club — at the chess table, even if only in passing.
