The Sky of Salamanca

But before starting on her way back home through Eurasia, four-time Women’s World Chess Champion and Rhodes Scholar 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) will make her début in the 2nd Chess Festival Eighth Centenary 2019 of Salamanca University (II Festival de Ajedrez VIII Centenario 2019 de la Universidad de Salamanca), to be held in Salamanca, Spain from November 25–30, 2019. Oh, yes, Edna. You know, they have a tendency to be too didactic to be meaningful to a genius such as you

Drawing on the Air

On the occasion of the date marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between People’s Republic of China and Russia, the 6th China–Russia Junior Match of Friendship “国奥棋院杯” (“Guó Ào Qíyuàn Cup”) will take place in 济南 (Jǐnán), 山东省 (Shāndōng province), China from December 11–15, 2019. Besides the encounters between Chinese and Russian youth teams, the big attraction will be the “battle of sexes” between four-time Women’s World Chess Champion and Rhodes Scholar 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán) and Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Vasilyevich Fedoseev, who’ll play each other in a 12-game rapid and blitz match before they close the meeting by giving a joint simultaneous exhibition against the “best youth” of both countries.

In summary, my dear Edna, it’s like saying that America was not discovered by Christopher Columbus, just as China was not discovered by Marco Polo

Yes, Edna, we were speaking of walls, but, indeed, you’re one of the most iconic subjects of street art, too

The Saturday Afternoon Club

Many old and new friends gathered today at Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna” to amuse themselves at chess and also at chess960. A special thank to Riccardo — the father of Giulio and Leone — for offering a sumptuous afternoon snack... which was particularly appreciated by Giuditta (so far the only female chess star of the club).

Touch of Rain

It’s Saturday — and it’s finally time for you to join the chess960 meeting at Associazione Culturale “Il Delta della Luna”, from 16,00 (4 P.M.) as usual. Pray do not forget to take with you a pair of clean sneakers to be used in the dance room only!
