Norway Chess breaks with the Grand Chess Tour
“For Magnus it doesn’t imply any practical significance”, Carlsen’s manager Simen Agdestein told VG. The 4th Altibox Norway Chess will not be a part in the next Grand Chess Tour. Altibox, the unified brand that sponsors the great event decided to secede from the Grand Chess Tour circuit, marking a difference with both the Sinquefield Cup in Saint Louis and the London Chess Classic. Will Magnus also play the Grand Chess Tour? “We have not yet decided, and so far we were not formally invited. In principle, Magnus is interested to play the strongest tournaments, but, in fact, next World Chess Championship match is scheduled for November in the United States, so our planning program depends on the compatibility of dates”, Carlsen’s manager Simen Agdestein said. |
