肖建华 (Xiào Jiànhuá) (pictured above), a 香港 (Hong Kong)-based Chinese-Canadian billionaire and financier, who The New York Times called “a banker for the ruling class”, is reported seized by the Chinese police from his apartment at the Four Seasons Hotel in 香港 (Hong Kong) on January 28, 2017 and taken in custody to the mainland China.
If the news were confirmed, the Chinese intervention would violate the “one country, two systems” rule which only permits the 香港 (Hong Kong) police to operate in the territory. Photo: The New York Times. |
