Antiphon

楊凱莉 (Yáng Kǎilì), 20, a Chinese live-streaming celebrity, has been detained for five days — under China’s National Anthem Law — for singing the national anthem in a disrespectful and offensive way while broadcasting live. In what has became a protocol by now, 楊凱莉 (Yáng Kǎilì) has then posted on her 微博 (Wēibó) account a penitent letter of apology, begging forgiveness for her silly and puerile behaviour, and promising to gladly undertake the path of ideological and patriotic re-education.

Harmony of Colours

President of the People’s Republic of China 习近平 (Xí Jìnpíng) met Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), in 大连 (Dàlián), northeast China’s 辽宁省 (Liáoníng province), on May 7–8.
As usual, Kim Jong-un was accompanied by her younger sister Kim Yo-jong, Director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea, who attended all the talks related to China–North Korea relations as well as other issues of mutual concern. Photos © Jajusibo.

But when the host offered a welcoming toast to begin a ceremonial banquet, and the guest lifted a chalice of red wine in her hand, then suddenly, the rest was silence. Photos © Jajusibo.

A Beautiful Mind

I breathe a sigh of relief in learning that Diving Queen 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá) (pictured in the second photo above along with her husband) attended and hosted the 体育大生意峰会 (Sport Business Summit) awarding ceremony held at 三里屯洲际酒店 (InterContinental Sānlǐtún) Hotel in 北京 (Běijīng), China on January 16, 2018 where the Go superstar 柯洁 (Kē Jié) (pictured in the first photo above) was awarded as one of the most influential people in sports business for the year 2017. 印象派 (Impressionism)

A mountain of impounded shared bikes can be seen at a parking lot in 南京 (Nánjīng), east China’s 江苏省 (Jiāngsū province). Although the bike-sharing services are booming nationwide in China, it’s challenging to manage bike-sharing and arrange orderly parking, and some bike-sharing companies have gone bankrupt after months of problems.
