The executives of the chess club Laboratorio SyS in Paterna, Spain, are meditating to organise a historic women’s chess tournament which may bring together all the current and former Women’s World Chess Champions, with the aim of turning their municipality into a world capital of women’s chess.
It is worth remembering that a similar cultural operation – namely, the 1st Silk Road Women’s International Rapid & Blitz Tournament, held in 韩城市 (Hánchéng), 陕西省 (Shǎnxī province), China from 17 to 21 July 2016 – failed mostly due to the organisation’s inability (or unwillingness) to provide any transparent information about it. According to Manuel Furió of Horta Noticias, at the moment the Laboratorio SyS’s officers can count on the availability and support of Anna Olehivna Muzychuk and Mariya Olehivna Muzychuk, the latter being already recruited by the club, and they also hope to involve the four-time Spanish Women’s Chess Champion Sabrina Neide Vega Gutiérrez as well as other women, hopefully from all over the world. |
