1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. Kg1/Re1. Ed. Note: According to the Italian mode of Castling. 4. ... d6. This reply to White’s Castling is generally held to be the best. 5. b4. At this point White can try the Evans Gambit with more success than in any other position, because, if Black accepts, the attacker will easily win back the Pawn with excellent game, or at least will force Black to defend himself in an extremely difficult and dangerous situation. 5. ... Bxb4 6. c3 Ba5 7. d4 exd4 8. Qb3 Qe7 9. e5 dxe5. If, instead, he takes with the Knight, White takes the Knight with the Knight, then he gives check with the Queen at b5 winning the Bishop. 10.
