39. Ka3? The decisive mistake. More resilient was 39. Rf6, even though after 39. ... Ke7 40. Ka3 Re5 41. Rxf2 Rxg5 Black’s extra Pawn will tell pretty soon in the endgame. 39. ... f5! Simply threatening to bring her King to e5. 40. b3. 40. gxf6 is met by 40. ... g5. 40. ... Ke7 41. Rf3 Ke6 42. Kb4 Kd5 43. Rf4 Re4+. Of course, 43. ... Ke5 would have won immediately, but also the text is sufficient to win. 0 : 1. For if 44. c4+ then 44. ... bxc4 45. Rxf2 cxb3+ 46. Kxb3 f4 with an easy win.
