The Eye of the Needle

During routine inspections by ASL of industrial factories in the Osmannoro productive area (Sesto Fiorentino province), clashes have arisen between Chinese workers and Italian law enforcement officials. In the end, Italian police arrested and detained two Chinese people. Apparently, the clashes were due to a kind of incommunicability. According to Angelo Hu, Councilman in Campi Bisenzio for Sinistra Italiana, “We must distinguish two moments. First, the delay for rescue of an old injured Chinese, the grandfather of a child, in spite of the fact he was needing more urgent care than the Italian policemen. This caused anger. Thus they closed themselves behind locked factory gates, just for soliciting the rescue of their old injured countrymen”.
An official of the Chinese Consulate in Florence was ultimately called in to mediate, but in vain.
Other Chinese workers had already, in the past weeks, complained of excessive harshness of such control inspections.
Therefore, we recommend Mr. Lorenzo Falchi, the newly-elected Mayor of Sesto Fiorentino, to call for necessity of respect of law in carrying out a policy of legalisation without misuse of power.
