Exsultate, jubilate

“Magnus Carlsen failed to attend the Round 8 post game press conference. FIDE regulations state that every player must attend the post game press conference, otherwise he will be penalised by a deduction of 10% of his prize money”, reads the “official statement” by World Chess Federation (FIDE), which, in spite of 12th World Chess Champion Anatoly Yevgenyevich Karpov’s appeal to “reality” (in any non-virtual sense), unilaterally decided to punish Carlsen for not respecting the formal obligations that they set. If he was playing for money, he would be losing enough to get angry. But he’s not. Photo: Jason Kempin/Getty Images North.

Desunt inopiæ multa,
avaritiæ omnia.

Poverty wants much;
but avarice, everything.
