Electric Pink

FIDE President Kirsan Nikolayevich Ilyumzhinov is in the hurry to schedule the next Women’s World Chess Championship match between the neo-World Champion 谭中怡 (Tán Zhōngyí) and the Women’s Grand Prix 2015–2016’s winner 居文君 (Jū Wénjūn), which should be virtually held next year – provided that in the meantime nothing goes wrong for him. Here the hurry is understandable, of course, given the necessity for FIDE of giving a veneer of legitimacy to the cabalistic mechanism which governs the long “Reign & Abdication” saga of the alternating Queens – and that differs significantly from the men’s system and format. Whatever it is, Mr. Ilyumzhinov has already clear ideas as to the possible venues: “It is still unknown where the match will be held. We shall start considering it next week. Perhaps, it would take place as the Men’s Championship – in Asia. Maybe in Singapore or Hong Kong”, he said.

French graphic designer and photographer Marilyn Mugot headed to China, and found herself in a Blade Runner-style world of nocturnal neon. “I have a real passion for the aesthetic of neon”, she says. “China seemed to be a natural fit to immortalize this combination of colors, environments and light”.
