Rg2 Qe7 39. Rfg3 h6. 39. ... Qf8 40. Qe6! (threatening both Qe6-e5+ and Rg3-g8+) leads to mate anyway.


40. Qg8+! Rxg8 41. Rxg8+ Kh7 42. Rh8+! 1 : 0. For after 42. ... Kxh8 43. c8=Q+ mate in two follows.
