And thus, from stage to stage, let’s get back to the night of December 30, 2018 at the third floor of the 天南大酒店 (Tiānnán Hotel) in 南通 (Nántōng), 江苏省 (Jiāngsū province), China where four-time Women’s World Chess Champion 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán), on vacation from the University of Oxford and guest of honour of the “新纪元杯” (“New Era Cup”), flanked by Grandmasters 余少腾 (Yú Shǎoténg) and 汪自力 (Wāng Zìlì), gave a spectacular simultaneous exhibition for the sake of her young opponents. “I owe to chess most of my growth and success. I will do my possible to come back to chess. In the meantime, by promotion and popularization activities, I hope to help everyone to realise that chess is more than just a mind sport. Its benefits are far beyond imagination.
