The World Fischerandom Chess World Championship is finally back, after the COVID black hole. The format of this second official edition is similar to that of the first one. The long and winding road to Bobby Fischer’s last hermitage begins with two online qualifiers in August (on 22–24 and 29–31), which will entitle four players to join the four invited players in the Grand Knockout Tournament scheduled to be held on October 25–30 in Reykjavík, Iceland. The invited stars are Wesley So (the reigning Fischerandom World Champion), Magnus Carlsen (the GOAT approximately), Hjörvar Steinn Grétarsson (Iceland’s No. 1), and a not-yet-named FIDE wild card.
